I am Professor of Biostatistics and founding Chair of the Department of Biostatistics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville TN USA, where I was chairman from 2003-2017. I was Expert Statistical Advisor to the Office of Biostatistics, FDA CDER 2016-2020 and am Expert Biostatistics Advisor for FDA CDER 2022-2026. I am Associate Editor of Statistics in Medicine. I am a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. I am author of Regression Modeling Strategies (2nd Edition, Springer, 2015). My specialties are development and validation of predictive models, clinical trials, observational clinical research, cardiovascular research, technology evaluation, clinical epidemiology, medical diagnostic accuracy, biomarker research, pharmaceutical safety, Bayesian methods, quantifying predictive accuracy, missing data imputation, and statistical graphics and reporting. I am a long-time user of R and became a member of the R Foundation by invitation in September, 2015.
In August 2014 I was given the WJ Dixon Award for Excellence in Statistical Consulting by the American Statistical Association. Among many other things, Dr Dixon was the lead developer of the first general-purpose statistical software package, BMD.
