Yes, Cross Validated should participate in Winter Bash 2014.

CV shows up in papers sometimes, so I turned on the citation option this morning: This option should make it just a bit easier to reference the great work you all are doing here.

Create the tag, don't mass-retag - retag slowly, one question at a time, not too many all at once, so we don't bump-flood the landing page.

I'm running this by the Community Team just in case there are any objections I can't come up with, but overall, this seems reasonable. To summarize, this community is in favor of changing its description to: Cross Validated is a question and answer site for people interested in statistics, machine learning, data analysis, data mining and data ...

Apologies for breaking all these URLs. I've pushed out a change to make these link go to the right place (the links you posted here no longer work).

Thanks for reporting. Fix for this is waiting in repo for next build. Should be live in couple hours.

mdewey points to the stratification tag, which is all we need.

You cannot create your own tags, even on your own questions, until your reputation is >300 (see privileges: create tags). Since it is your own question, and seems relevant, I edited your post to create the tag for you. Be aware that, as noted on the help center page: new tags will be automatically culled and removed from the system if they are not ...

The issue with the captcha should be fixed already, as of a few hours after this question was posted. As for the rest of your question... check out our developer Nick Craver's excellent blog post on Stack Exchange's road to SSL for full details. The long and the short of it is that child metas do not support SSL yet due to certification problems with our ...

Adam Lear commented on "Hot Network Questions" website icons scrambled (thanks Glen_b for pointing this thread in the comments). We have a race condition where when we update the favicon sprite map (which happened earlier today for a new private beta launch), depending on which web server you're hitting, you could end up with new ...

So, originally when this queue was created it was only a queue for questions that received reopen votes. It only ever had the "Question" tab which already displays a banner which lists the reason it was closed. We didn't put this information into the top information box because all it would be doing is duplicating information. Now that revisions bump ...

Thank you for noticing. I believe this was a problem only in the community announcement, because the election page still says it's over in eight days. I have added seven days to the deadline in the announcement.

The two tags are now merged, and all threads tagged with reference-request have been updated.

The community needs to identify such tags, because there is no guarantee that the system could correctly infer the desired highlighting syntax from the tag name. Moderators can indicate which language goes with which tag. I have done so with matlab, so it should be working now.

As you probably noticed, the question was asked a long time ago, when the code handling the links had a bug. Editing didn't help much because we only do a full rebuild of the links when a link has been removed. So in order to fix everything up, I've first deleted the link, and then added it back. Now the posts are linked up just fine.

No, Cross Validated should not participate in Winter Bash 2014.

This feature now exists with the "cite" link underneath each question. (Just to close this question.)

I can't see anything about either the post or your account that would lead this to happen (unless you were doing it from a second account). I do occasionally have temporary issues of a similar nature (with Firefox, and it has happened in both Windows 7 and 8) that are usually resolved by reloading the page, restarting the browser, or re-logging into the ...

we only need the tags [imputation] and [multiple-imputation]. To me, [data-imputation] appears to be somewhat redundant As I've already written in the comments above, imputation is since 2013 a synonym of data-imputation. However, it is a non-merged synonym, and that's why 4 questions that were originally taged with [imputation] still remain to be tagged ...

The user actually had two profiles created by mistake and proposed the edit from the other profile, not the one used to ask the question. The profiles have since been merged, so now the edit looks a bit weird, but there's no issue here otherwise.

This is fixed now. Flagging the post outside the context of review should pre-enable the "I'm Done" button again.

A few months ago, we went and updated most of the HTML for the named sites. Now, Cross Validated should appear in the title text of the page / in the tab you have the site open in.

2

Just for completeness: you should now have the power to add images, and your specific issue here has been resolved. Welcome to Cross Validated!

The problem has been solved. Closing the thread.

Maybe let's add [cronbach-alpha] (without 's) as a synonym..? I guess it will make searching easier since people may drop "s" in their queries. What do you think?

The new review system solves this issue and renders MathJax correctly.
